We are a law firm with its principal office in California and offices coming soon in other locations. References to “ELG Law”, “we” or “us” in this Privacy Notice mean the relevant firm entity with which you are working. If you are a client, an officer, employee, or contractor of a client of ELG Law: To act for your organization and/or advise you as a client, we will need to collect personal information about you, including your name, role at work, work address, work contact details and business details. We will, from time to time, also collect data on your areas of expertise and experience and your business interests.Where we are required by law, we will collect certain identifying information about you to comply with our professional conduct obligations, including your name, address or regulatory status or identity documents.In the course of any particular matter that we are working on for you, we will from time to time collect other personal information about you that is relevant to the matter. Usually, we obtain this personal information directly from you or from your colleagues but may also from time to time obtain personal information about you from third parties or public sources (for example, we may obtain data about your directorships from a company search or from your other advisors).

Where we need to collect personal information in compliance with our legal obligations and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to carry out our services, perform your instructions or act for your organization. In this case, we may have to cancel our engagement with your organization, but we will notify you if this is the case at the time. 2. If you are an individual who is involved in or connected to a client matter: To act for clients, ELG Law will process the personal information of individuals who are involved in or connected to client matters, e.g. representatives of organizations that clients are contracting with and their legal advisors and consultants. It may include both individuals who are connected with our client, and individuals who are connected with other parties involved in the transaction.

In the course of any matter, we will collect personal information about individuals who are involved in or connected with the matter and the types of personal information we collect will depend on what is necessary for and relevant to the matter. The data we usually collect for a matter includes your name, role, address, contact details and business details.

In the course of any particular matter that we are working on, we will, from time to time, collect other personal information about you that is relevant to the matter. Usually, we obtain this personal information directly from you or from your colleagues but may also from time to time obtain personal information about you from third parties or public sources.

3. If you are a potential client or an officer, employee, or contractor of a potential client of ELG Law: ELG Law may process certain personal information about individuals with whom it would like to develop a business relationship or whom it targets for business development and marketing activities and communications.

We will collect personal information about you, including your name, job title, position, address, contact details and business details, as well, from time to time, your areas of expertise and experience and your business interests. If we invite you to an event, we will occasionally ask for additional personal information about your dietary or accessibility requirements. 5. If you are a candidate applying for a role at ELG Law: We will process personal information about individuals who have applied for a role at ELG Law for recruitment purposes.

Types of personal information we collect:

The personal information we collect in order to progress your application as a candidate will include personal contact details such as name, title, addresses, telephone numbers, personal email addresses, date of birth, gender, current salary, compensation history, annual leave entitlement, pension and benefits information, current notice period and other employment records from previous roles, start date and location of employment; recruitment information (including copies of right to work documentation, references and other information included in a CV, cover letter or as part of the application process) and visual images and any photographs provided for business purposes. We will collect such personal information directly from you, or indirectly from recruitment agents or public sources, such as LinkedIn. If you are successful in your application, to the extent relevant, we will transfer this personal information to your employment record.

SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION

We disclose your personal information to third-party service providers who provide administrative or professional assistance, storage, security, telecommunications, and other services to us in support of our business, including secure remote working environments and office cloud software.We ensure that all such suppliers are subject to contractual obligations to protect personal information appropriately, in accordance with data protection law.

SALE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

California, Nevada, and Virginia law require that we tell you if we share personal information or “sell” personal information with a third party for monetary or (in California) other valuable consideration. We do not sell information in this way, including of minors under the age of 16. Share is specifically defined under the law. Sharing means providing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share personal information in this way based on our understanding of that term.

In some situations we may not be able to process your request. This may include if a legal exception applies. If you disagree with our decision you can contact us as described at the end of this policy.

Nevada residents: You may also opt out of the future sale of their information to a third party so that they may license or sell that information by emailing us at noted at the end of this notice.

INFORMATION IS STORED IN THE UNITED STATES

Information we collect is stored in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States be aware that information you submit will be transferred to the United States and you consent to this transfer. If you reside in the EU, we will transfer your personal information to the United States in accordance with EU data protection law requirements by using model contractual clauses that have been approved by the European Commission or other appropriate means.
